In fact, over 80 years of groundbreaking agriculture experience has established Versatile as the premium tillage option. The tillage that Versatile manufactures uses our agricultural knowledge inherited from industry-leading companies including Noble Cultivator and Ezee-On Manufacturing. The new generation of tillage from Versatile uses our past experiences and expertise as the foundation to build and develop our equipment.

  • 1936

    Noble Blade is successfully developed

    The revolutionary Noble Blade tillage system is successfully developed by Charles Noble over 10 years before Versatile is officially founded. The product is an immediate success and some years later the first Noble Cultivator factory opens in Nobleford, Alberta. The Noble Blade is designed to shear stubble and weeds below the ground and leave the residue on top of the soil to reduce evaporation and prevent erosion. The design of the Noble Blade was perfected with the help of the Lethbridge Research Station.

  • 1947

    Versatile is founded

    Versatile is founded and begins manufacturing the Harrow Drawbar and, later, different models of cultivators at their facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In fact, the Harrow Drawbar was the third ever product developed by Versatile.

    Ezee-On Manufacturing is founded

    Eugene Demkiw opens a farm machinery dealership in Vegreville, Alberta. Two years later, John Yakimetz joins the dealership and the name is subsequently changed to Demkiw and Yakimetz Equipment Ltd. However, this dealership will later become known as Ezee-On Manufacturing.

    Charles Noble inducted into Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame

    Charles Noble becomes the first person to be inducted into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame.

  • 1957

    Ezee-On expands product line

    The Ezee-On Manufacturing product line expands to include heavy-duty breaking plows and discs designed for farmers and contractors in North-Western Canada.

    Name Ezee-On Manufacturing is officially adopted

    The name Ezee-On Manufacturing is officially adopted as the company begins manufacturing front-end loaders that are easy-to-attach and detach (hence the name Ezee-On). Demand is strong and immediate across North America for the new and innovative loaders.

  • 1966

    First Versatile tractor is launched

    The very first Versatile 4WD tractor is successfully launched. Versatile is the first company to mass-produce articulated four-wheel drive tractors in North America with the D100 and G100. The tractors were originally intended for heavy tillage on the Canadian Prairies and US Northern Plains. See tractor timeline.

    Ezee-On manufactures larger discs

    Ezee-On Manufacturing begins developing larger offset and tandem discs that complement high horsepower tractors.

    Ezee-On partners with Versatile

    The demand for tillage that works with higher horsepower tractors like the ones Versatile is producing continues to grow. As a result, Versatile officially partners with Ezee-On Manufacturing to market a line of tillage discs under a private label in North America, Australia, South America, Europe and the Middle East.

    Noble Cultivators

    Versatile acquires Noble Cultivators and begins manufacturing tillage equipment under the name Versatile Noble Cultivators.

    Ezee-On expands tillage profile

    The tillage profile of Ezee-On Manufacturing continues to expand with a line of fixed and floating hitch cultivators and chisel plows. A single hydraulic cylinder for depth control provides farmers improved control when seeding.

    Ford New Holland acquires Versatile

  • 1988

    Ezee-On continues to grow

    Ezee-On Manufacturing continues to expand their product offerings to include a line of air seeders that have been specially designed to complement their cultivators. The popularity of the Ezee-On brand continues to grow in the United States and Australian markets over the next couple of years. As a result, new and in-demand products are developed including air drills, coulter drills and large capacity air seeders.

    Buhler Industries Inc. purchases Versatile

    The Versatile brand is purchased by Buhler Industries Inc.

  • 2005

    Charles Noble is honoured by the ASABE

    The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers honour Charles Noble and his Noble Blade as a Landmark Ag Engineering Achievement.

  • 2007

    The Versatile name returns

    Combine manufacturer Rostselmash Ltd. purchases Versatile and brings back the Versatile name in 2008. Despite this, the company continues to operate under the Buhler Industries name. See tractor timeline.

  • 2011

    Ezee-On joins the Versatile family

    Ezee-On Manufacturing officially becomes a division of Buhler Industries Inc. and Versatile returns to the tillage market. Over 20-years of precision seeding experience and four decades of tillage expertise are passed from Ezee-On to Versatile.

    Introducing the ML Series Air Drill

    The Versatile ML Series Air Drill is successfully launched with mechanical shank linkage and AE50 Award-winning ALIVE Control System technology.
